Step Right Up!

As another part of the value engineering phase of the project, we opted for cedar rather than concrete steps. The steps float on their own rather than being attached to the house.

If you look closely at the bottom photo, you will see that the boards are not mitered at the corner of the steps. Instead, they are arranged in a herringbone pattern for greater durability -- and we think, a better look. Thanks to Adam for another great idea!
